Me and the National team

"With the shirt of my National team I have played forty times, also scoring five goals. There are some episodes I will never forget: my first cap in October 1996 against Turkey, since I was the first player from Guingamp (a small French club) to have the honor to wear the shirt of Les Bleus.

Then how can we forget the extraordinary adventure of the 1998 World Cup? It was the first, great international success of my country, and I feel immensely proud for having been part of that extraordinary group that was able, after a good 209 years from the historic "Bastille Day", to pour over one and a half million parisiens on the Champs Elysées!

It was an extraordinary moment, and I remember perfectly my excitement on board of the bus that would take us in triumph! Two years later we also won the European Championship. It's been, no doubt, an extraordinary team, driven by who I consider one of the strongest players that I have ever seen play: Zinedine Zidane. He is now a great friend of mine even outside the pitch”.
